Burning quality

Say I download a video from Youtube in the format: mp4 720p. .mp4 is a lossless format, right? If I wanted to burn this file to regular audio CD, would it make the most sense to convert the file to .m4a, .wav (or .flac) before I burn it? That would keep the highest quality since those are all four lossless formats, right? Thanks in advance.

I did some more research and learned that audio cd's use PCM stereo data at 44 100 Hz sample rate. So if you want to burn an audio CD, you should always export the file you want to burn as a 44 100 Hz 16 bit stereo WAV, right? That would achieve the highest quality, correct?

Yeah 44.1khz 16bit .wav file would be fine. Though I doubt it'll make a difference seeing youtube videos don't exactly have the greatest audio quality.

No, I agree. The quality definitely isn't the greatest. However, it wouldn't make sense to format an mp4 lossless to mp3 lossy, then to PCM lossless again, right? It would make the quality even worse, I think lol.

Yeah, any conversion to lossy formats will make the quality worse.

Great, that means I'm learning then. Thanks for the help.

I burned it the lossless way this time, and it sounds MUCH better than when I burned it from MP3 format. I'm going to be burning all of my cd's this way from now on, even if I can only fit 8 songs on a disc lol.

Most decent Burning Software has a Option to burn a Audio or Music CD. That option will automatically convert your file in the Burning process to a Standard Audio CD, like the ones you buy in a Store. So you really wouldn't need to covert anything first, unless the Burning Software doesn't recognize the original file you are using.

Are you burning audio CDs or data CDs? Cause audio CDs should all have the same bit rate and hold the same amount of music.
