Burning smell ggwp

Hello guys, yesterday I was playing csgo and accidently hit my pc (cpu E8400) with my leg. Screen went black and there was burning smell. Computer won't show picture any more. I tried everything to understand where the smell came. It looks like from cpu cooler but I'm not sure. Motherboard didn't have any visual burning marks and psu with RAM and Gpu works fine on other Pc. How do I know if my cpu blew up or did mobo give up?
 
Check for loose cards and cables. You will have to open the case and look for smell or burn marks.
 
Then the only thing to do would be to take it in and have it diagnosed. If you don't have the parts to replace things with then they should.
 
You may be right, it looks a little burnt. I wouldn't be using the computer until you figure this out. If motherboard is still in warranty you may be able to rma it and have it replaced.
 
Probably not likely but possible. Was there anything loose in the case that might have touched it to cause a short?
 
Just make sure the motherboard supports the cpu you have. You can damage motherboard and cpu if you try in wrong motherboard.
