Business's Dot-Com doesn't appear first in Google Search

I have a local business with two different stores in this city that has a website at "business".com.

When I go to Google and search "business".com, that domain and website address doesn't even appear until page 2 of the search results! Why is that? Is there any HTML code that I can put in my website that will make it top the list (since it SHOULD be topping the list right!!!?) And no, the business's name is very unique and contains no english words, so all the search results are still ABOUT my business but aren't the OFFICIAL business website at the top of the search results. I find this to be unacceptable, and i read that "Meta Tags" are ignored by most search engines nowadays ...

Any suggestions on how to make this Dot-Com top the search results like it should?

i think you should get more hits, the more hits you have against the other sites, your rank should move up.

Bots&Spiders that find pages for search engines rank sites according to several different criteria. I read a book on online marketing that had an entire chapter dedicated to optimizing your web page to achieve high ranks on different search engines. Is it possible that you would give us the link to the site, I may have a look... if not possible, just tell us, I'll post some "general advice" (too lazy to do so now :P)

how long has your site been online? it does take 6 months to 2 years sometimes to move up higher.. and also depends on many factors how many people are linking to your site and their page rank etc...

the website has been up for more than 4 years.
it is rivalled by our former website designer's post of the website (yes, indentical, but under their own subdomain, rivalling our dot-com).
i will give you the domain name directly in private
but please don't post the company name in this forum
i don't want this to come up in search results either
:)
