Buy a better 1080p monitor or get a 1440p monotor?

At the moment i have a 1080p monitor and i just got a 980 SC and its great, but now i want a better monitor, can the 980 SC handle 1440p playing games with 60fps or does it struggle a bit, im fine with 1080p reight now it looks good but i want to get a proper gaming monitor.

The 980 should be able to push a 1440p monitor quite nicely. Not necessarily bleeding edge max settings at 60fps on everything but the higher resolution is, at least to me, worth it if you have to make small sacrifices in your game settings or framerate.

Id agree it should be fine. I got about 80fps on bf4 online with dsr 1440p. As Darren said The higher resolution will be worth it even if you have to touch the settings down to get 60fps. A larger monitor will make a good difference aswell 27-28" is much nicer than 23" if you can fit it.
