Buying a laptop - few questions

I am looking to buy a laptop in the near future. Price isn't really an issue, but I don't want to buy anything outrageous like those $4000 Alienware computers.

I have used PC all my life. I've recently heard that Macs are a lot better, that is, they don't freeze nearly as much. I have also heard that macs aren't very good for gaming. I'd like to be able to game, but I wouldn't need to do anything hardcore. How bad are the macs? Can you customize macs like you can with Dells so I could maybe upgrade gaming specs? Can you suggest a few laptops I should consider? Thanks

This is strictly my opinion, but...

I would never consider Mac.... I dunno, but the Mac OS doesn't seem THAT great to me, and ive heard of many compatibility issues that Windows don't have.... although I don't know Mac all THAT well....

In any case, I also think the Macs are rediculously overpriced....by at least $500-$700, and that's from estimates I have just foud recently, because I am looking into buying a new laptop as well...

The best prices I have found are from HP.... same hardware as other companies but lower price...

Next best prices I have found is from Gateway...

The HP dv9000t series looks sweet for what you want your laptop for...
I might suggest Core 2 Duo 1.83 GHz, 256MB Go 7600, and 2gig ram.... Nice screen, etc... i believe under 1500...

good luck

Okay, I have a macbook pro, and a desktop PC. I use the PC more, but i am also a grapic arts major, where i use the MAC, its nice, the features are good, and it has frozen one. I also put Windows XP on the mac, with bootcamp, so gaming isn't a problem, I am going to build another PC sometime or another, but I really like the mac, and I can say that I didn't make a mistake by buying one. Yes the are expensive, the the battery lasts, over 3 hours, has, a really nice screen, videocard, and processor. I would suggest one, I just converted, and HAD been a mac hater before this, feel free to ask me any questions about my mac.

If you want to game, pc is prefered over mac because mac is limited to games and they don't make much for mac. Customizing, it's harder to customize a mac and upgrade and what not because they're not built the same as pc's, so it's generally harder to customize a mac. However, I'm not saying it's easy on PC's either because we are talking about laptops.

I know you say price doesn't really matter, but if you can give us a number, it'll be easier to work or suggest something for you. We will have the idea of not going over or under what you expect and can see what is better suited overall.
