Hi, i am gonna buy a laptop and been looking around and it's all confusing on which one is best, has most memory etc...so i wonder, what is the things that i need to look at?

like the laptops i have looked at had for example:
1GB RAM / 160GB Hard Drive

another one has
1GB RAM / 60GB Hard Drive

another one has
1GB RAM / 250GB Hard Drive

another one has
3GB RAM / 160GB HD

and another one has
4GB RAM / 250GB Hard Drive

so which one of these would be best if i only look at the RAm and hard drive?

I am looking for a small, lightweight laptop that i can bring with me anywhere, don't need to save allof of stoff in it as i have my desktop computer where i do everything on, but ofcourse i would love to have some storage so to say....i am also looking for a laptop for my son who loves to play games on the computer.

I have always had Dell computers but have now looked around at other brands.

is this laptop a good one?
Sony VAIO® W Series VPCW121AX/P 10.1" Mini Notebook Netbook - Pink
Intel Atom N280 1.66GHz Processor / 1GB RAM / 250GB Hard Drive / Intel GMA 950 / 802.11N / Bluetooth / Webcam / Up to 7 hours Battery / Windows 7 Starter

Is "windows 7 starter" good? i have Windows Vista in my desktop and love it.

Appreciate any help or suggestions, thanks

Jessica

The 4GB/250GB would obviously be the best choice, although there are a lot more factors, what are the CPU's of each?

Not sure what CPU is but here are the info on each one:

* 1GB RAM / 160GB Hard Drive

HP VA716UA Mini 110-1033CL 10.1" Netbook
Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz / 1GB RAM / 160GB Hard Drive / Intel GMA 950 Graphics / Webcam / 802.11G Wireless / 2.57 lbs / Windows XP Home SP3

* another one has
1GB RAM / 60GB Hard Drive

Archos 9 PCtablet 9" Touch screen Netbook
Intel ATOM Z510 1.1GHz Processor / 1GB RAM / 60GB Hard Drive / Webcam / 802.11G / Bluetooth / Optical trackpoint / Windows 7 Starter

* another one has
1GB RAM / 250GB Hard Drive

ASUS Eee PC 1005HA-PU17-BK 10.1" Seashell Netbook - Crystal Black
Intel Atom N280 1.66GHz / 1GB RAM / 250GB Hard Drive / 802.11N Wireless / Bluetooth / Webcamera / Windows 7 Starter

* another one has
3GB RAM / 160GB HD

Acer Computer Aspire AS5517-5671 15.6" Notebook PC
AMD Athlon 64 Processor TF-20 1.6GHz/ 3GB RAM / 160GB HD / DVD Burner / ATI Radeon HD 3200 / 802.11G / Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

* and another one has
4GB RAM / 250GB Hard Drive

HP G60-458DX 15.6" Notebook PC
Intel Pentium T4200 2.00GHz / 4GB RAM / 250GB Hard Drive / Intel GMA 4500MHD / DVD±R/RW Drive / 802.11G / HDMI / Windows Vista Home Premium

and then i've looked at this one as well:
Sony VAIO® W Series VPCW121AX/P 10.1" Mini Notebook Netbook - Pink
Intel Atom N280 1.66GHz Processor / 1GB RAM / 250GB Hard Drive / Intel GMA 950 / 802.11N / Bluetooth / Webcam / Up to 7 hours Battery / Windows 7 Starter

i really want a small screen so i can easily bring it with me and thought that maybe the 15" might be too big then.

Are refurbished laptops no good to buy? i have always only bought new computers but have a friend who always buys refurbished cellphones, laptops etc and have never had any problems, but i am a little bit skeptic to buy it.

again i appreciate any advice.

You are comparing two completely different types of products, the first two are netbooks, and the second two are notebooks. If you want something small, I would highly recommend the Asus Eee PC. I have one and it's a great unltra-portable computer.

ops..i have no idea what the difference is in netbook and notebook, would u mind telling me the difference? thanks

I will look at the Asus Eee PC, thanks

Basically netbooks tend to be in the < 13" screen size area, most don't have an optical drive either. They are great if you want an ultra-portable laptop for traveling, or want something small to surf the web with and that has great battery life. They aren't as functional as a notebook in the sense that you can't watch movies on DVD's, and the lower performing components and smaller screen make it less practical at tasks other then your basic web/office applications.
