Hello everybody. I am planning to buy a new computer in the next few months, and I would like to hear some advice. I have made a draft of what I would like to have, but seeing as I live in Norway, the prices may not be what you'd expect. I have listed the prices (with todays exchange rate) in USD that I would have to pay. I will mainly be using this computer for gaming, but I also do a slight bit of audio editing and stuff like that.
Corsair Powersupply 750W Black, ATX/EPS, $ 255
Asus P5E, X38, Socket-775, DDR2, ATX, $ 303
Crucial DDR2 BallistiX PC8500 2048MB CL5 $ 98
Samsung SpinPoint T166 400GB SATA2 $ 132
Samsung SH-S202J IDE $ 59
Logitech G15 Keyboard $ 147
Logitech MX518 Optical Mouse $ 72
Logitech Z-4e 2.1 Speakers $ 131
Windows Vista Ultimate
Samsung 22" LCD Syncmaster 226BW TCO99 $ 469
The above items are those on which I have pretty much decided already. As for the cabinet, processor and video card I am unsure, however.
Zalman Z-MACHINE GT1000 Gaming, Alu $ 587
I really don't know enough about cabinets to understand why it has to be the most expensive component on the list. Some input here would be nice.
Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 3.0GHz 1333Mhz $ 370
For an additional $ 311 I could get Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 2.67GHz instead. Is the difference worth it?
XFX GeForce 8800GTX 600M 768MB $ 470
For an additional $ 1 I could get
EVGA GeForce 8800GTX 768MB GDDR3 instead. This also comes with Crysis, which I will definitely buy anyway. Any suggestions on these will also be appreciated.
All of these items came from a list of choices on a Norwegian website, so I'm pretty sure they are all compatible and whatnot. The company will also build the computer for me, so no worries there.
The total for these items is $ 3,093, and the grand total (including vista, warranty etc.) comes to $ 3,683. Bear in mind that the prices in Norway are generally outrageously high, and the dollar is pretty low now, so the price may seem high to you.
