Buying a new hard drive

Hello, I am looking to buy a new hard drive my price range is under a 100 euro on this website http://www.elara.ie/products/harddisks.asp?available=checked

I was thinking of buying an external hard drive as they seem to have much faster speeds and store all my games etc and play them off that, I will also keep my os on my main hard disk. Would this work? Thanks.

An external usb hard drive will be slower than an internal drive. You do not want to run games from an external drive. Any internal hard drive like the seagate 7200.12 series, westerndigital caviar black, or samsung spinpoint F1,f3 series drives will work. All depends on what size drive you are looking for.

As John said these above internal Sata hard disk drives are truly quick.

+1 for the seagate barracuda i've had one for over 3 years hasn't had a single problem. So i bought another.

If it were me and I had 100 euro I would definitely get an SSD.

will provide 60GB of C:/ goodness - remember the hard drive is your biggest bottleneck. An SSD with 60GB will easily fit the OS and all applications. YOu computer will be MUCH faster as a result.
