Buying a new laptop

Hey guys. I have $500 to $600 to upgrade to a new laptop from my lovely pentium D.

I was thinking I want a i5, is that a good idea, or is that a bit overkill? It will be put to basic multitasking use, ie Chrome, iTunes, Microsoft Word, and possibly basic gaming.

I want a webcam, and a backlit keyboard would be nice, but I can do without that, as they all appear to be only for expensive computers.

I need suggestions. I need something where the hard drive can easily be taken out as well, as I want to install a different OS, and I don't want to take it apart every time I need access.

EDIT: My question. Do I need an i3 or an i5?

Im sure you can find a nice one that fits your needs for $500-$600.Don't know if youll find one with a i5 or not in that range.Imo,most laptops are a pain.I prefer desktops.I heard emachines,gateway & HP are the lower quality ones when it comes to cheap-mid range laptops.Id shoot for a acer,MSI,or asus.I know some may disagree,but based on reviews I have read & watching 1,000s of vids on youtube thats what I came up with imo.I know you want a new one probably.
But if you look around ebay & craiglist you can find very good deals.My dad got a 4month old $600 acer for $300 off craiglist.Still has 4 months warranty,box,papers etc.Looks brand new still too
 
Try Acer. They seem to have good laptops in that price range. My athlon II x2 acer only cost 499. you should be able to find a i5 in this price range, especially if you dont want a dedicated GPU.
 
The one at walmart says it has HD4250 graphics, but the one at newegg says it has HD intel. I would trust newegg more than walmart. But either way that seems to be a fine lappy.

Yeah I scrolled down on the walmart one and it says its the intel hd graphics. So I think that's what it is.
 
Can anyone find any of these at a decent price (600ish or less), and I want them with an i5?

So would I be better off getting an i3 with a good gpu, an i5 with integrated gpu, or spending an extra 200ish and getting a i5 and good gpu?

ok, in this case, the i5 is a better choice. The turbo will aid in a speed intensive app. The GPU will take load off of the CPU, and keep it cooler.

I dont think your allowed to have OS X on a PC. (Though if your are allowed, Id love to put it on my lappy.)
 
yea...unless your doing any gaming...integrated chip + i5 = ideal, if you can shop for the best battery you can get with the machine, what would be the seller for me.
