Buying a used mobo(for parts/repair),then sending to be refurbished.Is it worth it?

I never sent a motherboard to factory for a refurbishing.How much does it usually cost unwarranted?Does it depend what needs repaired & how much needs to be?Or is it fixed price usually?Varies by manufacturer?

I been curious about it.I almost got a asus crosshair V formula for $40 shipped.
Physically,it looked like all it needed was a new socket,which is only $8 for the part.Doesn't matter though,someone bought it already .Only reason I didn't buy it is it could've came down to sending it out for refurbishing.I have no idea how it goes & how much on average most charge for unwarranted products

Have no way of knowing without knowing what is wrong with it. Would have them call before fixing it with a price. Never sent one back out of warranty. My guess is unless its a really highend board it would be better just to buy another motherboard.
