buying a video card

Lookin for some of your expert opinions on what video card to go with..

I want to spend about $100..

System has AMD phenom II quad core 940, 4 GB RAM, 500GB HDD etc.. running windows XP. I don't have any video card at the moment

Make sure you have at least 500W PSU

GTS 250 is about as fast as 4850, 4850 being faster than 4830

power supply is 550w so it should be fine...the GTS 250 looks good...any reason that the 9800 would be a better choice? otherwise i am liking the GTS

9800GT will not be a better choice, GTS 250 is faster, If I were you I'd go with this version
Mind you, Palit version requires 2 PCIE power connectros, whereas XFX only one, I've got one

Now it's not giving me the option to buy it, its only an option to "auto notify" when the item becomes available..anyone ever experience about how long this usually takes?? otherwise i might just go with another card...

i would rather order through newegg.. i can go up on the price a little..up to like..130 or 140...would u still recommend going with the 250gs or a different card then? I could afford something like this

What size of a monitor are you using? 1GB doesnt make it faster than 512MB version.

You can get GTX 260 which is faster for about 170

My monitor is just a regular 17" flat panel but i plan to get a 22" widescreen eventually..possibly 2.. I don't want to go up to 170 thats gettin to be too much..

Stick with GTS 250 then, If you can splash out get 1GB version and nice cooling.
