I'm thinking of buing a new HD (40-80 GB) for my old desktop system which has the following characteristics :

1)Computer :
Intel Pentium III processor
451 MHz
256 MB of RAM

2)System :
Microsoft Windows XP
Professional
Service Pack 1

3)BIOS and MOTHERBOARD :

BIOS ID Strings: 01/28/1999-i440BX-W977TF-2A69KJ1CC-00, 2A69KJ1C
Model: Award Modular BIOS v4.51PG (Elite BIOS), 01/28/99
Vendor: Jetway
Version String: V.7BXAN_2 C01 01-28-1999
Designed for: Intel 440BX/ZX
Peripheral bus(es): ISA/PCI

BIOS update interface: awdflash hook

Supported features:
PCI IRQ Routing Table v1.0 (correct)
Boot sector write-protect anti-virus function

Add-on BIOS detected:
3Dfx Interactive Inc 3Dfx Voodoo3 Chipset
Located @C50000

4)HD
Western Digital 20 GB

 I've read all over the net that I may have a recognition problem for HDs > 32 GB (32 GB barrier that has to do with old award BIOSes).

Reading the above characteristics can you tell me if I' ll meet any problems installing a new HD (as slave) of 40-80 GB.

Thank you in advance!

Looking at that, your BIOS may need to be updated in order to take advantage of a HD larger than 32GB. There's no problem with the PIII or XP SP1. I'm not sure about the chipset capability; others with more knowledge may be able to tell you.
