Buying software

Can someone please explain to me about buying software on the internet like craigslist. I see lots of software cheap that makes me suspicious, but I also see ads that claim legitimate software. I was looking for windows 7 and there is an ad that says windows ultimate 7 for 60.00 with valid registration number. They claim they get software cheap from there work. Is this all just bs and a scam? Or maybe it's an I.T. person from a big company? Or do they burn a copy and sell as new??? Just curious, I think I'm gonna go down a just purchase locally at an authorized dealer...:good:

thats probably the safest way, although it is possible that they got a coorporate code from their work where one code will install an unlimited amount of times or 250 times or whatever.

Well all the depends where you buying it from. ( what website ). If you buy it from trusty and popular websites it's worth it but if you are looking at craiglist and maybe ebay (sometimes ebay is good) you have to be sure what you are getting. Like you said it might be a copy of the real software. You have to be careful and research the product you want to buy before you buy it.

ive bought from both. i look at the feed back, how many items he sold and check for complaints. For software i always requested new in box and unopened.

It is completely illegal. If it gets flagged or you get caught they will ban your serial/license number. They are probably burning copies of Windows and selling them with their Enterprise license which is illegal and if caught would put them and the company at legal risk.

The cheapest and legal way to get software is wholesale OEM, and that you have to be a licensed Microsoft reseller to get and it is not all that much cheaper than buying OEM from a store.

Another cheap and legal way is edu discounts. If you have an email that ends in .edu or any family member that does you can get Microsofts student purchase program to purchase legit and free software.

Good, i liked it. If anybody is wondering im sure he's talking about the corp key.
Corps are hard to find and worth gold.

Yeah if an enterprise buys an unlimited client license it is pretty hard to track down any illegal installations, especially since computers used at home for work are also allowed to have that software installed. Plus laptops go off site all the time.

If caught though, MS will ban that license key and issue the company a new one. At my old job we had a full MSDN subscription so I was always downloading the newest version of every MS release and beta product and playing with it to get to know it better.

I'm having a legit copy sent to me. My daughters friend is in college and is ordering me a windows 7 professional thru a school purchase. I believe it only cost me $30.00... Woot.....

Does anyone know if sites like this are legal and/or are legit?

Here is one of many I found. I also found places claiming they have an MSDN account and have only used some of there licenses they purchased. And would like to sell the rest. What is an MSDN account anyway???

Dont EVER buy from that kind of websites. First those keys are not original. They are generated from keygens. Those keys will work maybe for a month and then Microsoft will ban it. It's waste of money and basically it's a scam. Just purchase a original copy of Windows 7 and be happy with it. Yea i know it's expensive but it's worth the money because you will probably be using it for many years.

I know this is an old thread but wanted to say I just d/l win 7 professional and office ultimate for $124.43 includes both DVD and insurance and tax. This is direct from M.S. student deal woot woot.....:D
