Bypassing password in Windows 2000

I have a 10+ year-old Compaq laptop that I haven't used for many years.
It's running Windows 2000.
I don't remember my old password anymore.
Is there any way for me to get to my files?

You can use a program to reset the password without knowing the password. In your situation, the best way for you is making a password reset disc by Windows Password Key. Which allows you clear the password without knowing the current one.
