Hi,

I have installed Windows Vista Ultimate and its all working great i have gone installed all my programs but i have done a silly thing where i haven't allowed enough Harddrive space space on my C Drive. I have another partion (D) on the same Harddrive that is about 60gig (its an empty partion at the moment!) so what i would like to know is:

Is there away of moving some of that 60gig D drive space to the C drive without having to format and redo all the partion's again?

Not easily. If they are dynamic disks or you have a 3rd party utility like partition magic or gparted then you can resize them but it doesn't always work so you should backup anyhting you need before you try it.

You could always uninstall some programs and reinstall them on the other partition.

If you couldn't do that, try uninstalling your programs and reinstalling them but on the other free drive.
This should give you some breathing space on the C Drive.

Hey,

Thanks alot for the answers :)

Will installing programs on to the other partion cause any problems with speed etc? I use programs like Maya/3D studio/Cubase SX3 and Adobe Audition and i am worried that if i put them onto another partition that they will be laggy or something like that?

I know when I tried it yeeeeeaaarrrrssss ago it was crap so im not sure what its like today?

Many thanks
Joe

Maybe a little bit but it shouldn't be too bad. I wouldn't expect that you would have any noticable lag from doing it.

Hey!

Ok that's great :)

Another question about installing on another partion. I'm also going to be putting another harddrive in with a few more partions (no OS its just for storage etc) could i install programs onto that or is it best to install them on to the same HDD as the OS?

Many thanks
Joe

Put in mind that programs like Maya needs memory and free space.... so try to keep your C Drive as free as possible, Also set a reasonable page file on the C drive and also the other drive.

Ok thanks alot...I have about 5 gig worth of space left one the C and I've never had it that low before(usually ALOT more space lol)

Anyway many thanks for your help

Joe
