Hi guys.

Im new to this forum but have already found it to be a wealth of info on all things PC.

I was wondering if anyone could help me with this particular query in describing the characteristics of C.P.U. components and the operation of the Fetch Execute Cycle.

Any links would be cool also.

Thanks in advance guys. :)

A full definition obviously comes from an educational source as far as any links like the one here. You first will need a pdf file type reader in order to open the pdf page seen at http://www.cs.montana.edu/~bosky/cs518/ife/IFE.pdf

That provides a full breakdown on the Fetch Execute Cycle as well as illustrations explaining the processes over the 10 pages seen there. A few alternate sites are looked at here http://www.it.jcu.edu.au/Subjects/cp1300/resources/lectnotes/system/fde.html and at http://richardbowles.tripod.com/durham/comparch/fetchex.htm

Basically this is the time period during which a computer reads and processes a machine language set of instructions stored in the active memoryy or ram or the series of actions that the cpu(central processing unit) performs in order to execute each set of coded instructions(programming) in a program.
