does any one know when the core 2 duo e6600 price are going to drop right now they are selling at 315.00 by the time its june what is the price going to be and when the price drops what is the price going to be around

They will go down in MSRP to $215, but they might not drop instantly. It will probably take a week or so for sellers to get rid of their more expensive lots and have the new ones.

I paid 316 for mine a week ago, but if they drop in April I'll take $30 a month for the upgrade. I used to wait for price drops all the time, but it will always go cheaper. I didn't have the fortitude to wait.

true, but someone in my shoes has a computer running perfectly enough for my own use. not only that, but right around that time i'll find out how much i have to pay in taxes this year, and if it's $100 more than i expected, i'll sure be glad i paid $100 less on that processor ;)

me too, i'm waiting for a q6600, and even if i had 3x more money than i do, it's not worth $300 to me to have it an extra month or two

practicing a little bit of restraint goes a long way

How much do you estimate by mid-summer 2007? I want one so bad. Since I heard intel is working on an "octi-core" that's 8 cores. Yeah, I know that's a little extreme.

Do you really have to OC an E6600 to get good performance from one?

Sorry I am a little off subject

Thanx

i totally agree. i think another thing you have to consider is that by may, not only will you save $80 on a processor, you'll also be able to buy the current $400 GPU for $350.

RAM is like the only thing that won't fluctuate in price between now and then and forever for that matter.

When DDR3 comes out, after DDR2's price drops. I'm gonna buy like 8Gb and use my mobo's full potential.

But I do hope the C2D E6600 drops by July, hopefully to about $270, I am gonna drop in an EVGA 680i and an 8800GTS. This doesn't run games, it hauls them.

WRONG, Windows NT, 2000, & XP can go 4Gb. Windows XP 64-bit will hold
16Tb. So, whoever gave you wrong info., needs to check their integrity.

Excuse Me???

did you not read the exact thread that you are in? it says the price will drop to $224 right around april 22nd for the e6600.

I said Mid-summer did I not? Why don't u go join a political debate forum, you are doing no good here picking at my comments. This is about trading information for PC building and what's good or bad. Who r u to be talking, anyway, I have heard no information out of you besides griping about my comments.

you said mid-summer you hoped it was down to 270, and we said it WILL go down to 225ish by may. why the hell would you even ask if it was going to go to 270 in july after reading that?

i am wrong about the RAM tests? are you kidding? read the damn thread i posted. i didn't do the benchmarks that got those results, only one of the most well known online-computer benchmarking sites did. you can PUT more RAM in your computer, but it obviously doesn't do much after a certain point. but by all means, go waste your money on 8gb of RAM if you wish.

seriously dude, you need to chill out. you sound like a 12 year old. i'm done here.
