Cable identification

Hello,

I have a cable inside of kiosk that I need help identifying. The one side of the cable is an 8-pin mini din m, the other side connects into the black slot in the first picture. The second picture shows the cable that is inserted. Thanks in advance for any help that can be provided!

I don't know. Most 8 pin connectors are power connectors. Have you tried unplugging it when its off. Start it up and see!

It's a power connector. It looks like the arse end of a hard drive. It's not going to do anything if the only thing it's connected to is the power supply.

It could also be other things like a CD/DVD reader.
