Okay, my friend Ashley's cable modem kicked the bucket the other day so she went and bought a new one (ubee D3.0) and hooked it up.
Shes having problems connecting to the internet now. All the cables and what not are in the correct ports. She talked to customer support for a good two hours and they couldn't help her. Amazingly, after a few hours of having the computer hooked up AIM connected and she was able to come online. However, websites wouldn't load. So she asked me for help.
I'm not a network guy. Most of that stuff confuses me. But after searching around a bit I had her type in ipconfig /all so I could see what her computer sees. All of the IPs were 0s. I told her to release and renew her IP as well as flush her DNS. After doing that she could connect to websites very slowly and also semi use AIM. After 15 minutes things stop working and she has to release, renew and flush the DNS all over again to get it working.
Any ideas? She doesn't have a router.
