Cable~

Hi,

I was wondering if it would at all be possible to connect a cable box to my hp w2007 monitor. I read on a different forum that it would not be connected to my monitor but rather to my graphics card.

My setup:
Dell Inspiron something (Laptop's closed don't feel like opening it)
ATI x1400 512 megs

Do I need to supply more information?

The external monitor I use has vga and dvi if that has anything to do with what I'm concerned with.

Thank you.

EDIT:
I just realized I supplied the wrong information. Although I will be keeping the hp w2007, I will be upgrading my laptop to the xps m1330, if that changes anything.

You need a PCI TV Tuner card to view cable/satellite TV on your computer. This is the card I own: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815116628

EDIT: I think I misread your question. I'm not sure how you would directly connect your monitor to your cable box.

Thanks, but I'm a little lost. Would this replace my current graphics card? Would I have to take the one I have at the moment out and put this one in? Also, are there any tutorials on how to set this up?

thank you.

If you want to install the TV Tuner card, you'll need to open up the computer case and place the card in an empty PCI slot on your motherboard. No, it won't replace your graphics card.

The white slots are standard PCI slots:

I think I'll stick with the external thing seeing that I'm using, and will be using, a laptop, and I doubt that there will be room for that extra stuff.

Thanks for the help!
