Cache?

What is the difference between an 8, 16, and 32Mb cache on a hard-drive(besides the fact that they are different numbers). Is there any huge performance jump or fall that would impede my gaming system from running at full potential?

Thanks.

The higher the number the more data a hardrive can temporaily store before it is dealt with and processed. It's like a holding chamber and if it fills up then the harddrive has to wait before it can put out more. Theres more to it but basically the more you have the better and smoother things will go

But will the difference between a 16mb cache and a 32mb cache slow down my computer enough to where any of my components will be bottlenecked?
Running an AMD 2.6Ghz Quad, and 1066 RAM.

ha ya what? It could it all depends on how demanding the program your working on is, If you have a choice between 32 and 16, just go with the 32 to be safe

You don't really need more than 16 (probably not even 8 in most cases) but if the 32 is the same price or cheaper then by all means go with it.
