Call of Duty 2 on steam NOT WORKING

Short I downloaded CoD2 from steam no error windows nada, launched game but only stayed in the launch game window forever.... whats going on? does it take long to launch the game cause half life and CS:S launched waaaaaaay faster, I don't even think CoD2 can launch.

I bought my cod off of steam and had troubles, so i borrowed a friends install CD and installed it with that using my cd key from steam, this can be found in mulitplayer options
