I am a student and must print very large documents on my LaserJet 1200 series printer. Problem is that the printer prints very large documents extreamly slow.

So I called HP to see which memory chip I need and for how much.
They stated that I need a 100 pin SDRAM. They only had one instoce which was 32mb with a model # of C7845-67901 for $275!!!!!!!!!! Holy Crapola!

My question..... I realize I can get it cheaper else whare, but do I need to buy that exact model # or will ANY 100 pin SDRAM chip work?

If you're looking to up the speed of the printer, the RAM has nothing to do with that on printers. RAM on printers increases the cache, or storage space that it has available to print a document. If you want to be able to send it a 5,000 page document instead of a 50 page document, then you need more ram. The reason for this is that a printer will not start printing a document until it has received the entire document, hence the need for more storage space.
