hi my digital camera has the lens stuck out .it turns on and makes a whirring sound but the lens does not retract.i think that the camera is still trying to push the lens out.

Sounds like a servo or motor is broken. I take it it won't zoom with the camera on?

no . it wont do anything as a error apears saying to turn it off and on again and i have done that loads of times with no success
You'd have to send it in somewhere for service, or look into a new camera.
