I've see the X1 in action. Not saying this because I'm a reseller, but I'm also very picky when it comes to features- I just dont think the X1 has much to offer for a price like that. It's very thin, but they use flimsy materials (maybe to keep the weight down). Bend it wrong or put a book on top of it, it can mess up the screen or other components.
If your company is giving you a budget that high, I'd recommend a W5Ae from Asus. Very stylish, carbon fiber chasis (very sturdy), light weight, and built in camera. Won the 2006 CES Innovations Design and Engineering Honoree Award, too.
If you want a bigger screen and a more powerful video card, look at the W3V, very stylish, carbon fiber materials w/ brushed aluminum lid, ATI x600 graphics card (can play the likes of Doom3, HL2, and FEAR at medium settings), and bluetooth.
Since you travel a lot, they both come with a 2 year GLOBAL warranties standard. You can get it serviced anywhere in the world. Both also come with internal CD/DVD drives, too.
