Hi! Can a computer able to detect what equipment is being plug in into their soundcard from a speaker out hole?

Any answer would be appreciated! Thanks!

Yes! My Realtek onboard HD Audio on my mobo tells me if a cable is plugged in or has been taken out its quite helpful :D

Oh you mean what type of equiptment oh i dunno sorry maybe through S/PIDF or something

thanks for the reply! I am just curious and have asked a lot of people about it. And a lot of them told me that the computer is able to. But it doesnt make any sense to me. So I thought of clarifying it further.

Your computer can only tell whether something is connected to a jack (called jack detection), but it can't detect what kind of equipment it is.

Thanks for the reply! But, just for curiousity, can something like a spyware detect what equipment is used by checking the sound frequency given off through the audio jack? Something like headphone will produce certain wave frequency different than an earphone.

I would like to think such a program would be more than just a spyware, anyway no. The sound card sends the same frequencies to a headphone or a earphone. It's the actual physical hardware limitations of headphones and earphones that make them sound different.
