Can all wireless reciever find channel 13?

Earlier i was messing around in my router (Belkin N1) and i changed the channel from 5 to 13. I thought that they could only go to 12, it worked fine with my Belkin Receiver. But the laptop couldn't even find the wireless network!!! Why can my usb receiver see networks on channel 13, but not my laptop?

It might be that either:

1) Your laptop can't pick up the 802.11n signals
2) Belkin created channel 13 because if other devices can't see it then it adds security.

because your laptop is probably 802.11g and your reciever can pick up 802.11 n

It could also be where your laptop and receivers were made. The U.S. has licensed channels 1-11, while Europe uses 1-13, etc.
