Can anyone explain the concept of duel channeld ram to me?
I have recently got a new mother bord (an asus) I was reading the start up screen noticed something about duel channle ram 'liniar mode'...Im guessing this means im not duel channeling my ram.
I have 2x 512 sticks in there at present. I have noticed that there are different coloured ports for ram (blue as opposed it black if it matters) next to the pluged in ram respectivly. I would think if i plugged in two sticks of 512 into these ports id get duel channeled ram...
...the point IS, would i need to do anything fancy to change the 'liniar mode' to whatever other mode, and what would be the advantage to duel channeling ram, wouldnt it just be better to have 4 512 sticks running linnearly?
sorry for the long winded ness but im just confused about this
