Hi everyone, i am knew to this forum. i recently did a swap with my brothers MB, power supply, video card, and such. but kept both my HDD from my old comp. I then noticed that my comp kept on turning off on me when i would load a lot of things so i took the ram and moves it to another slot (that solved the problem of rebooting all the time). and now i am having a problem with my comp freezing and when i try rebooting it wouldn't read any of my IDE drives. then it would load to a screen that says:

searching for boot record from cd/dvd-0....not found

boot record failed..
insert boot into diskette a:

Could this be a problem with my hardrive? because i tried putting another drive in and it gave me the same thing. Any suggestions would help. Thanks

having swap motherboard you should have not boot up your PC in the first place.
You should have repair your OS installation.
i think your hard drive is still good, configuration on the hard drive is your old mobo and you have a new mobo, so OS is having difficulty coping with new config.

try repair

thanks patrick, i will try to reformat with a fresh copy of OS.

nah, if i was you i'd never format, takes ages..lol
that happened to my bro once, his not IT related he just swapped hard drives from his PC to another he bought.
i told him to repair but he wanted to format, to hell with him !! there are other ways to fix this
