Can DDR2 800 and DDR2 1066 be used in one system?

I recently realized that I have the wrong RAM installed in my computer.
I have a motherboard which according to the specifications states that the Memory Standard is DDR2 1066. The current RAM I've been using for the past 2 years on this motherboard is DDR2 800.

I've had little issues regarding ram in my system. However, my goal is to upgrade my ram from my current 2GB to 4GB.

What would be the best course of action?

Should I just buy another 2GB DDR2 800 RAM and stick it in?
Or should I buy 4GB worth of DDR2 1066?

I would prefer it if I were able to combine the current stick I have of 2GB DDR2 800 with a stick of 2GB DDR2 1066. However, is this even possible/recommended?

(I am low on money, so I would prefer the most affordable option)

it is possible. the second stick would just run at the first stick's speed. i do not believe you'd be able to run them in dual channel mode though.

yeah i know they will not run in dual channel mode.
I was just mainly worried that my DDR2 800 RAM is serving as a bottleneck to the rest of my system. But then again, my system is still relatively fast.

If I did buy a 1066 and it only ran at 800, I think I will just buy another 800 stick of ram then. Thanks for the help.

It will run in dual channel. It would just back clock the 1066 to 800. That is if you left the 800 installed. Either go with all 800 or 1066.

The system I'm using right now actually uses 4x256mb sticks of RAM, 2 of which are 133MHz faster than the others. The thing is, you can probably get 2gb of 1066MHz RAM, then overclock the 800MHz ram to match it. In fact, you might be able to do it without even raising the RAM voltage.
