Can get past loadup...

So I'm trying to load windows 7 to my current build. I've cleaned off the HDD...but now I can't get past the start up screen. I hit esc to get to the boot menu and select CDROM. It goes to the PCI device listing menu..Verifying DMI pool data....Boot from CD:... and then it just stalls there and shuts off. any ideas?!?

It is in the priority, but it's secondary. When I go to the boot menu though, I select the CDROM as the boot device.

I would suspect a bad hard drive possibly. Try removing the power and data data cable and see if it continues with the bootup process.

You say you've cleaned the HDD? Was it not a new drive?

I had this same problem last weekend, new build, all new bits. Would begin to load the win 7 files then freeze.

Changed out everything except for the processor and still the problem remained. There was only one option and, at this point I'm glad that I use a local supplier and not online, got another processor, one up from the original. Worked straightaway and the other processor has since been tested and works, just not with the MB I was using.

HTH

Ive had issues too. I opened the tray on the cdrom tray and blew out with a can compressed air. (static free) and light across the laser head. fixed.

Thanks everyone for the advice. Retarded me forgot just let it load up normally after it installed...

With that being said I did try everything that was suggested, minus buying a new CPU...which probably wouldn't have hurt either, lol. Then just by a guess I tried to repair windows and it showed me I already had it installed! How about that.

Thanks again!
