I'm going to be building a new PC pretty soon and I was wondering if it was possible to build the follow for around $1,000 +/- $100-$200

At least 4GB Ram
HDMI video out w/ HD monitor capable of 1080P
Blue Ray player/RW drive.

Those are my only requirements. All other parts I'm open to anything. Is it possible?

Cost of OS not included. I'll be running Windows 7

What's the PC going to be used for gaming, movies, music? Sounds like you're just going to use it for movies, if that is the case then $1000 is overkill.

Yeah, my htpc cost me $210 and it upconverts standard video to 1080p quite well and plays 1080p videos amazingly. That didnt include the case, psu, or a bluray reader though but $1k is gaming territory.

If you are not using it for gaming, then maximum of $600 will be enough. 2GB Dual-Channel DDR2 1066MHz RAM memory, stable PSU, one GPU 512mb and let us say Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD with 2 cores. Adding DVD+RW Blu-Ray.

get a tri core
and what os you running 64 or 32

If a Triple Core CPU then it will be 64-bit edition of Windows. It will come from AMD. Intel don't do Tri-Cores, do they?

You can install either a 32bit or 64bit version of Windows, no matter how many cores your CPU has.
(providing of course 64bit is supported by the particular CPU)

Not sure what is meant by this statement.

Thanks for the replies. I will not be using this PC for any type of gaming except those flash games the wife plays online. It will mainly be used for movies, music, and tv.

yea, but its funny how that is the price of a regular pc that most people buy when they want a "good pc" for home. When they could've just build it(or pay someone) and get a way better deal/pc.

Btw for running abode ,forgot name for editing hdv, it says 3.4 ghz is that for a single core one?
