Can i do this with my 360 controller??

Hey guys, i just bought an xbox 360 and i also got one of those rechargeable battery packs for the controller. As you may know, the charger hooks up to the 360 through an USB cable. I want to know if i can charge my controller through a USB port on my computer?? does it have any difference from the 360's usb port????

Hook it up and see what happens I know the previous controllers were just modified USB ports that could apparently be converted without much trouble.
