Hi all,

I have a quick question if someone can help me out...

I have a Hp computer which recently windows Xp didnt boot anymore because of an error but i want to re-insall windows Xp home anyway,

What i want to know is can i borrow my friends Xp home disk and re-install windows then use my Valid genuine key on the side of my computer case?

Because windows was already instaled on my computer and i had no disks whatsoever.

See the problem is,

My friends copy of Xp home hes gonna lend me is a retail version but the copy i had on my computer was OEM i think because it was already instaled on my computer.

I think i heard somewhere that you cannot use an OEM product key on a Retail version of windows?
I hope this isnt the case because if it is then im screwed :mad:

How long ago did you buy your HP computer? It should have come with a HP disk that has windows on it.

AFAIK, they don't. At least mine didn't.
 
Nope,It didnt come with any disks at all:mad:

This isnt realy fair because in a way when buying a computer with genuine windows on it your actualy paying for the copy you have on the machine so therefore microsoft should give you a disk.

But soppose its just microsofts way of getting even more money outa us that way:cool:

No wonder theres so many people with non legit copys today.

I just dont know what to do now,I cant realy afford buying another copy of Xp and i hate Linux.
 
If u didnt get any disks then go to HP website and tell them to send u the disks. Thats what i did and they send them to me for free and my cuzin did the same thing.
