Can I do this?

Hi everyone,
This is my first time posting here.
Our family PC is running Windows ME of which I don't have the CD, now when I start it up it keeps doing the hardrive check for C: and then crashes because some file is missing or corrupted. I cant get into it. So I was wondering if I could install Windows XP from the CD I got with my Personal computer? I've used it once on my own PC, will this make a difference? I'd really appreciate any help.
Thanks, Vic

First of all welcome to the forum :).

And sorry but no you can only install windows XP once unless its a multi license CD which would not have came with you computer.

Thanks for the help. :) Do you have any suggestions?
Basically I just really ned to check my e-mails on outlook express. I haven't used the outlook express program on my PC I use gmail. Could I set up my old account on my PC and receive the emails on that?

Well I don't think I could use Linux, my brothers and sister mostly use it for their edu games and what not. haha. The specs are I think 20gig hardrive, 256mb ram, don't know the motherboard. I edited my last post so maybe you didn't see it, I'll just put the rest down here:
