Can I get in trouble for simply DOWNLOADING music with Limewire.. or just for SHARING

yep you can get in trouble
Chances of getting caught are slim - but then thats not the point is it

anyway dont think this is the sort of thing we need to discuss AGAIN!

they usually go after the people who download lots of songs, if you just download 1 or 2 chanes of getting caught are slim, but, if you do get caught, there is a very high penalty and possibly jail time.

I will buy iTunes.

unless you have an iPod or a mac, i wouldnt recomend using iTunes, since they use there own music format (.AAC), which can only be played by iTunes and Quicktime. I would use wal-mart online music for only 88 cents per song, or use msn music.

Sounds good. I think I'll either buy an iPod and get iTunes or use MSN Music or Walmart music... not sure which way to go.

also, check artists webistes regulary. some will allow one or two songs from there album to be downloaded legally for free.

i think the thread can just die on its own, as a topic this was concluded nicely and will be left open for other users to read in the future.

Be sure to post any other question you may have in the future rocket1406

I have heard something about some site where you pay a monthly fee and you can download as many songs as you like, does anyone know what this site is?

yeah but u can converte AAC to mp3

Also if you use msn music or other similar services you can't play the tracks that you download on ipods, so if you are going to buy an mp3 player it is probably best to decide which one first, then chose where to download your music from, as it would be very annoying to build up a collection of music downloaded from itunes to then go and buy an mp3 player which won't play it

its wierd but one of my friends got caught downloading a movie and instead of fining him or throwing him in jail the police just made him delete the downloaded file and the p2p programs and made him promise not to do it again
