Can I Install Windows 8 On To A New Blank Hard Drive? Please Advise Me...

Hello there,

Might I take a moment of your time? I am writing to inquire about how to install Windows 8 on to a new blank hard drive. Where do I purchase Windows 8 from? How much will Windows 8 cost me? I want Windows 8. What do I do? My Dell Optiplex 780 Desktop is configured as follows:

- Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 CPU @ 3.0GHz
- 4GB of Memory
- 1TB SATA Hard Drive (New/Blank)

I would truly appreciate your help in this matter.

Your computer should be able to run it. Have you installed Windows before?

Since it is a Desktop I would install 7. I thought 8 was pretty dysfunctional on a Desktop PC

Actually he should do well with Windows 8, it takes a little bit of learning but other than that it's fine.

Might work with some more RAM, however you didn't mention the GPU specs though...

I don’t happen to have a convenient copy of Windows XP/Vista/7 lying around so that I can install or use to perform the upgrade. Do you think I should try installing Windows 7 but not activating it and then perform an upgrade to Windows 8? Will this method work? I think I can download an (I believe) legal copy of Windows 7 ISO from the Microsoft website. What do you think? Reply back...
