Can I overclock a 5 year old Dell?

I have 2 Dell PC's that I use for functionality until I jump in and build one from scratch as a personal project.

I happened to stumble upon the overclocking concept as I read forums like this and others. I am reading that the motherboard is a limitating factor on whether or not I can overclock the processor.

Is there a way to know if my MOBO is overclock capable or not? If it is - I might tinker on it a bit to see if I can get some additional performance.

Thanks

Most of the time OEM type computers are locked in at certain clock speeds. They also aren't very upgradable for the most part. That doesn't mean it's impossiable. You can Google your specific system and see if anyone has had luck over cloking it.

No go huh?

That's ok. No biggie - I can wait til I build one til I work on that concept. I was just thinking that I could risk screwing around with the old computer to where if I lost anything - it wouldn't be the end of the world.
