Can I remove default apps

Hi, I have a Galaxy Ace, and the obvious problem here is the appalling amount of internal memory. Why when there is so little of it, they fill it with a load of useless apps, I am struggling to justify. Basically as the title suggests, can I remove them, gmail for instance does nothing but get on my nerves and take up precious space.

No most software that comes bundled with phone can not be removed especially googles own stuff.

Install android assistant it will let you see all your system data storage space etc and let you move some apps to sd card or uninstall apps you want rid of.

If you go to uninstall an app and it says this will be replaced with the factory version then that means it can`t be uninstalled only revert back to the old version.

This us why I went with a nexus 4. It didn't come install with tons of apps I never use.

Its too bad the don't let you remove them. I am not sure if rooting the phone would help.

The best way to go about it is to root and flash a custom ROM on your phone.

Hi, thanks for the replies, I had heard of rooting, Avast asked me to do it to activate the Firewall, but I just uninstalled it as it took to much space, not great with phones to be honest though, might struggle with doing it, I don't spend much on phones, as I would rather the money be spent upgrading the desktop, so it's the first android I've owned.

I have just put a post up with similar issues, I can neither delete the aps or move them.
There is no point in fitting a bigger SD card because it is not using it, surely Samsung/Google recognise there is a problem.
Basically if you don't want Google, don't buy a Samsung (too late for me)

It's not Google's fault - it's the phone carrier. They load a bunch of their useless apps onto it.

Ummmm, noooo, voyage fan, I actually think that it's the fault of the app devs, or more likely the model.
What's the apps' removal problem to do with the phone carrier ? Al they do is provide signal XD !!

I guess you've never seen AT&T Navigator, AT&T Music, etc. on a phone.

Are you French btw ?? X3 I was under the impression CF is a UK site

Ian, the forum owner, is actually Australian and the server is hosted in the US, but a lot of the forum members are either from the US, Canada, or the UK, with some users from France (Punk), India (Mihir and Ankur) and Australia (Ian, OkeDokey) and the occasional oddball place.
