Hey guys. I am in need of a new cpu, and i found a lga775 Intel Core 2 Duo E4400 Allendale 2.0GHz, but i am not sure if my board will run it. my board is LGA775, and it says "Hyper-Threading: Yes" but doesnt anywhere say anything about a Core 2 Duo proc.

This is my board.

I can take my P4 out of my machine, and put the core 2 duo in my rig, and put my p4 in the other rig. So will this board run that proc as well?

I don't think either board will support the Core 2 Duo. The oldest chipset that supports Core 2 Duo is the 945 chipset.

The core 2 duo will not work on 925/915 boards. I don't think it will work on the 865 board either but I think I saw an 865 board that worked with dual cores but it could only use the netburst based Pentium Ds.

From Intel yes I think the 945 is the earliest, although any chipset that supports Intel dual cores in theory should be able to support Core 2 Duos if they have the right VRM.
