Can I run my RAM at....

Hi all.

I have Gskill DRR3 1600 ram at 9-9-9-24 I think.. I currently run it at 1600.

Seeing this article.. Gaming seemed to work better at 1333 and 7-7-7-20 than what Im running and Gaming is mostly what I do.

So my question since I dont really know. Can all ram run at under the specs and therefore have tigher timings? Do I just have to set it and it will work?

Difference imo would be negligible... But i would start by trying to trim back to 8-8-8-21 at 1600mhz, give it a little bump in voltage and run memtest to see if its stable

How do you measure temps on RAM? Or does it not matter how hot they are?

Umm... ir thermometer is what i use.... but if you dont have one, i wouldnt worry about it.

Does RAM not overheat like CPU's? What timing do you reckon is possible with Gskill RAM at 1600?

You just have to tweak it and find out.
