Hi,

Is there any software that can be used to schedule an automatic turn on for my PC, that is to turn on my PC after it's been turned off according to a schedule?

For example, I schedule it to turn on my PC at 10:00 A.M now it's 8:00 A.M I turn my PC off and after 2 hours from now at 10:00 (as scheduled) my PC will AUTOMATICALLY turns on.

Is there any way or software to do that???
I'm using win-xp

thanks

i dont think there is software that can do that. You can have stuff that will wake you out of standby mode - but then thats no a shutdown now is it. There is hardware that can do this. Just a time plug will do it, you can get those all over the place. Or attach a small timer in line with your power switch.

Maybe someone else can thing of an idea but im fairly sure that this is right

I think that apj101's opinion is good. Other method how to do it is by sending magic packet(WAKE-on-LAN) throught network from another machine. But in this case another machine somewhere have to be running. :o

i think some motherboards can turn a pc on according to the bios clock.

Yes, all of my Abit motherboards have this feature. The bios would probably be the best place to look first...

Oh

I'll check it too. I didn't hear that this is possible in bios on some types of motherboards :), but it gives a sence. Very interesting... :rolleyes:

yes u can power on ur PC by using the power settings in the BIOS. But a limit is present in my mercury MB that i can turn it on only once. I f we need to start it i again have reset the settings for my PC to start up once again. For All of this i have to go to the BIOS and keep changing it.

try to use the shutdown command, it will shutdown the pc after a specified amoun of seconds.
start --> run > shudown -s -t 60 -f
this wil shutdown the pc after 60 seconds from the time u hav press enter on the run console.
I dunno, if u looking for it,
more complex one could be, try to make batch file and put these cmds and doube click on it when u want to shutdwon the pc after a specific amount of time

thanks for caring
