Can i test my fans by powering the psu?

yup, i dont have a mobo or anything right now.
and i am wondering, can i just power up my fans?
like take the 6pin molex whatevers and plug them in to the fans, then the psu ports.
is that ok?

actully, if they conneect through the 4 pin Molex and not the 3 pin, then yeah, if you have a 20-pin power connector, take a wire thats stripped on both ends, or a sheilded papperclip and take one of the end and count four over on the top row, then flip the connector over and count over another 4 and plug it there, then power on, heres a little diagram:

if its a 24-PIN connector, then find the green wire, plug it in, and flip it over and count to 6, like so:

so i have a 24pin, but i can take off four pins to make it a 20 pin.
