Can I uninstall windows off of a hard drive without losing other data such as movies?

I don't think so. I think the only way to get rid of Windows is to re format your hard drive. That will destroy all the data on the disk.

That's not strictly true, you can delete the windows directory assuming you are running another OS at the time.

If you have another drive with an O/S - then yes, it's easily doable.

the correct way is
1-backup your data
2- make your hdd 2 partitions
C for windows & D for your stuff
