Can I upgrade a better CPU in this mainboard?

Hi guys,
I have this Gateway 508GE desktop computer still going strong after 8 years abuse. I recently changed the memory to 2gb and put in a 60gb SSD and also put in A Nvidia GT520 video card. It run much better than before.

It have Intel D915GAG main board with 775LGA socket, it have the Pentium 4 550 single core CPU run at 3.4ghz HT enabled. I am wonder if I can put a better CPU in this system? like a dual core CPU?

Can this CPU work in this board?

I looked at its support page and it says the 2 mobos that can come with it only support p4 ht's, nothing better.
 
It only has a 915 chipset which only supports the Celeron and P4 processors so you are stuck with what you got.
 
No, pentium 4's are not dual core. They have hyperthreading which simulates dual core. You would need a pentium D processor to be a true dual core.
