i have a laptop and iam wanting to purchase a desktop could i simply buy the tower and plug it into my laptop and use it through the screen on my laptop???
if so how would i do this and is there any software you can reccomed?

ive looked at maxivista and it says u cant as u would not be able to see the boot process or the login screen, however if i borrowed a monitor to install the software and set it up so when the pc was turned on it went stright to the desktop with no login and run the programm on start up would it work then display the screen on my laptop screen?

if anyone can help me with this i would really apreciate it
thanks alot michael.

I just skimmed over your post because the answer is no :P The only way to use a laptop monitor as a standard monitor is to get one of these converters which would end up costing about the same as your standard LCD from Newegg!

Yeah, it's not recommended. You can buy an adapter, but the cost of that, you might as well just buy a junkie monitor. Maybe even a used one. I see people selling crappy monitors for as little as $25. I suggest you do that.

I've got a tv tuner for my laptop and I'm running a desktop server through it, the tuner has s-video and so does the desktop's graphics card, there's a bit of a lag though but it works for what I want it to do, you could also look into a VNC server

We're looking for more practical ways, I beleive :o TV-Tuners cut out SOO much quality, going from non-interlaced to interlaced(then back in this case) It'll be hard to read anyway :P
