Can I use a similar model LCD screen for replacing a laptop screen?

how's it going, I have bleeding/dead pixels in a huge chunk of my screen and it's growing(there's a hairline sort of crack through the middle) it get's slightly worse each day although it is still bareable.

anyway I have a Toshiba Satellite C650-00M laptop screen, however other than a couple not-so-trustworthy sites, I can seem to find the exact screen on places like ebay and such, but I can find similar models like C650-01T or C650-15L and such(no idea what the difference is) don't know why I can't use these, but i heard i need the exact.

the reason i'm not just sending it out to be repaired is that these screens only set me back $80-90 while sending it for repair is in the hundreds!

please help!!

exact match?

did the same thing with ebay, only time i had issues with a part was a inverter board, but it was like a 20 dollar part, kinda got hosed by that but just have to make sure you have pictures on parts like that, with screens, their pretty universial and as long as the specs match they should be ok, just be slow and patient taking the thing apart, btw a butterknife is a very weird but useful tool to pry apart plastic parts on a laptop i learned o.O
