Can I use a windows 7 hard drive on a windows 8 machine

Okay so I just picked up all the parts for a new build I'm doing. I'm keeping my old HDD from my old computer which ran windows 7 64bit. The new computer will be a windows 8 machine, which I will install on my new SSD.

My question is... Is there any problem with connecting my old HDD to this new computer. My old HDD has a windows 7 install on it. Do I need to remove windows 7 because my SSD has a windows 8 install on it? Am I going to have any problems hooking up this old HDD to my new machine because of the different operating systems installed on them? Do I need to format my HDD before I hook it up to the new rig??

You won't encounter any issues. Just be sure you set the SSD as the primary boot drive. You can then copy any files you need, then I would recommend formatting the drive (just so you can start off clean with that drive).

as mentioned by voyager, you won't run into any problems.

I recently installed a new ssd for a friend. He had a harddrive with windows 7 on it and i just unplugged it, installed ssd and widnows 7 then plugged in harddrive which had windows 7 on it and copied any files over then formatted harddrive.
