... share an internet connection to another pc via usb? i have the pc in my sig, and i have a old dell p2 that i want to ubuntu-fy:D and have it solely for folding at home. but, it has no ethernet port, and all it has is a old ISA fax modem card. instead of buying another 100ft ethernet wire and a NIC or a wirless card, can i put the dell in my room next to my sig pc and somehow share internet through my pc? my current setup is internet to modem to router to my room to my pc. and i want to change it to internet to modem to router to my room to my pc to the dell. thanks for any help!

p.s. the dell does have usb, but it is only 1.1 Will it be a faster connection if i connect them via serial vs. usb?

There are USB "cross-over" cables. I'm not sure what all's involved in setting one up, particularly with Linux.

Honestly, it'd probably be easier and cheaper (probably faster too) to get another pair of NICs and connect to your computer using a crossover cable (networking, of course)

thanks, one more thing:
i have a pci fax modem card that i could put in my pc,so can i connect a rj-11 cable from the modem card already in the dell, and then put the other modem card in my pc and use a rj-11 as a crossover? if so, then i don't have to spend any money.:P
