Can my printer be fixed

Hello all, first post. FYI I know very little about computers, so go easy on me. :D
So today my printer (HP Deskjet 3820) jammed and I pulled the paper out through the front. After this it started to make some weird noise on the rollers, and a little screen popped saying, "Mechanism Error. Theprint catridge cradle cannot move. Check under the top cover for a paper jam or obstruction."
After all my attempts and fixing this, I had NO luck.
Called HP support, and the guy said it cant be fixed and to never pull the paper out through the front.

Is this right? Can anything be done?

Thanks a lot in advance,
Cody

prob not the tech support guy was most likely right becasue when you pull paper out of the front u can jam the mechanism even more and when u get that message that usually means you have hosed it up beyond repair.....you might wanna try bringing it to a repair shop and they MIGHT be able to fix it...good luck

What adam said is true, you probably pulled some of the rollers out of alignment and now the print cartridges can't scan across the printer/page anymore. I would forgo taking the printer to a repair shop because I beleive that model originally cost you around US $50? If that's so, it will cost almost as much to get the thing fixed if not more... Trash it, and get a new one, but be careful, HP's new "economy" printers will absolutely RAPE you on the cost of the ink. Their 5740 is usually about $90 standard, and much better use on ink and print quality. If you're looking for another option the Epson C66 is about $70, and the C86 is about $100, both are pretty good, and will be a little better on the cartridge cost/page yield than the HPs...

my advice mey or maynot be use full or stupid fer that matter.... my mother had the same prob so she called me to take a look at it i went in and took the thing compleatly apart and found a few things out of place lioke the rollers and the ink runner was way of track u may want to do the same if u want to save ya some money trust me it worked fer me she has a lexmarx 300 serries and thats all ......
